Use of Demographic Studies of the Urban Population in Planning Future Urban Development
Dušan Đošić
Abstract
The rate of development of the population of a town can he influenced by
numerous factors such as historical origin, the town’s geographical postition and
economic potential, etc.
The population of Belgrade is growing at a very rapid rate, but the increase
has for some time been of a mechanical nature. The highest increases have been
observed in suburban districts. According to the latest census, only 33.5% of the
town's population are autochthonous inhabitants. In planning the town's future
development, special attention should be given to the growth of the population
and to changes in its structure.
