Abstract

The authors present three cases in which during the filling of the root canal the filling was pushed deeply into surrounding tissues. In two cases this caused unpleasant sensations for the patients, and the material had to be surgically evacuated. The authors state that such complications are rare, and are more a result of a rare anatomic pattern in the patients than of vitium artis of the dentist. The fact that they sometimes occur is a sufficient reason to point at them in order to avoid them, and when they occur to cure them as fast and as efficiently as possible.
