Abstract

This paper deals with nautical tourism, one of the most important drivers of economic development in the world, and describes changes occurring in the marine environment under the influence of nautical tourism and ports as a result of the circulation of yachts and boats. Development of nautical tourism brings along increased numbers of vessels and moorings and newly constructed nautical ports, thus increasing the possibility of pollution of the sea and the coastline. Nautical ports are one of the largest users of marine waters and coastline and in pursuing their efficient development they should strive toward the promotion of environmental protection. The paper defines most common pollutions resulting from yachts and boats in nautical ports and proposes measures to overcome their negative impact upon the port water area.
