Logistics Forwarder in the Focus of the Traffic and Economic System

Abstract
Freight forwarders play an important role in the realization of logistics activities by acting as organizers, operators and coordinators of logistics processes taking place in the transport and logistics chains and networks. In modern economy, international trade and transport systems, especially in most developed ones, the role of freight forwarders has grown into the role of integrator and coordinator of many logistics chain links and has thus acquired the features of logistics freight forwarders or forwarding logistics operators. Freight forwarders as logistics service providers and an inevitable link in international economic activities may contribute to adding value to the goods and to their competitiveness in the international market. Affirmation of freight forwarders as logistics operators, likely to contribute to the enhancement of logistics process performance in the ever more complex logistics chains and networks has been the subject of our research. The aim is to present the research results pointing to the increasingly growing role of freight forwarders and their transformation into the so-called 3PL (third-party logistics) and 4PL (fourth-party logistics)or LLP (lead logistics provider) logistics providers.
