Abstract

The date collection on school children in the Zagreb area sged from 7 to 11 years show that in these age groups the teeth No. 6. are the only permanent teeth attached by caries inraries-positive children, wether alone or at very low porcent, in association with olher permanent carious teeth. The latter, howewr hardly ever occur without No. 6. being involved. Although the »sixes« form a minority of ali permanent teeth grown at that age, they form at that time a considerabie minority of ali caries-positive permanent teeth. The abssolute count and ratio of caries positive teeth in relation to the caries positive surfaces increases from year to year in the sense that the absolute and the relative number of carious surfaces increase more rapidly than the number of carious teeth. Data are presented showing that the incidence of caries at the age of 7 amounts to 67 % and KEP to 1,7 teeth point to the necessity of systematic examination and treatment of the No 6 teeth from the moment of their appearance.
