Abstract
In order to increase the efficiency of wood (both qualitatively and quantitatively) , a variety of techniques and technologies of wood gluing have been developed. Glued semi-manufactured timber is recognized in the market as “engineering wood”. In a rougher classification, it can be considered as a composite material. Laminated elements for the production of joinery are such a product – they are produced by lengthwise and diameter wood gluing and can successfully replace elements of solid wood. Laminated elements have some advantages over the elements of solid wood – they are reducing strain and use wood more rationally. Laminated elements made of three panels are commonly used for the production of joinery. For evaluating the quality of adhesive laminated elements it is necessary to conduct a thorough and continuous testing of bonded joints’ strength to confirm the correct choice of adhesive and bonding regime. In this way, laminated elements make a justifiable substitute for solid wood and a quality guarantee is provided.
