Abstract

In this article we discuss some approaches to the concepts of subject, difference, identity and
proper names in the discourse of G. Deleuze and F. Guattari represented especially in their book
Mille Plateaux (1980), but also in their other works. According to Deleuze and Guattari a proper
name cannot designate a subject but it can be applied to what takes place between the named and
the one who gives the name. The use of names is cultural, and naming provides a kind of “personal
consistency.”
