Abstract

In modern society, the awareness of environmental protection is extremely high. In the Republic of Croatia, it is visible through the legislative and institutional framework. Conducting environmental impact assessment studies is prescribed by law, while the institutions are engaged in the provision of environmental information to all potential users. That is why the need for credible and high-quality spatial data exists. These data should be properly processed and understandable to users, as well as easily applicable. This is achieved through special environmental services and information systems. Their development allows good cooperation between different branches of geosciences and professions. As one of them, geodesy provides the basis for environmental protection.
