This material was created by reviewing the available literature and numerous studies, and its goal is to provide pharmacists with the latest information on treatment and therapy of Parkinson’s disease, advantages and disadvantages of certain groups of drugs, identification of adverse drug effects, and on the correct dosage of medications. Special emphasis is placed on identifying the responsibilities and roles of pharmacists in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, which consists of the early recognition of symptoms, monitoring the effectiveness of therapy and patient compliance, patient education about expected adverse drug effects, conversation with patients about their treatment and follow-up.
