Abstract

After explaining the concept of multiculturalism, the author discusses social phenomena that aggravate the actual development of a modern society, so that multiculturalism appears only in its initial manifestations. The problems of plurilingualism are presented along with simultaneous, current socialisation processes in different cultures. Among the fundamental processes in society that influence multiculturalism, the processes of adaptation, acculturation, and integrative conflicts are analysed. The development of these processes and their interlinkage are influenced, in the first place, by a limitation of the phenomena of ethnic stratification.

Keywords
