Abstract

In the territory of the Republic of Croatia, educational system has experienced multiple reforms which, as a rule, have not contributed to the creation of high-quality human resources (HR), ready to be directly involved in entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the problem is increased due to the fact that the higher educational system has experienced a transformation in a couple of recent years, having evolved into the Bologna Process, while the high-school educational system has not adequately followed this change. Because of the importance to educate professional personnel for the economic development of eastern Croatia, especially of Vukovar-Sirmium County, being a Special State Concern Area, it was necessary to launch a three-year vocational Course of Trade Study at the University of Applied Sciences Lavoslav Ružička in Vukovar. A curriculum should form a basis that would respond to contemporary necessity to understand entrepreneurship as a key economic entities’ lifelong learning (LLL) competence at its best. At the University level, it is necessary to adapt the curricula that would solve the problems of students’ adjustment to the pragmatic business conditions while contributing to the acceptance of entrepreneurship as an educational, social, and economic value. Moreover, it is necessary to analyze the policy, mission, and educational objectives within the LLL. The University of Applied Sciences Lavoslav Ružička in Vukovar invests maximal efforts in the development of LLL curricula in the field of education and mobility increase pertaining to the students involved in the process. The programs are adapted to the guidelines provided by the International Association for Continued Education and Training (IACET), Washington, DC, and the EU.
