Abstract

The process of creating modern Croatian intelligence community in line with the democratic principles was burdened with many demanding challenges for which the process was neither quick nor easy. However, despite the fact that the Republic of Croatia during the transformation of the intelligence community from a totalitarian system to a democratic system was exposed to external and internal aggression, Croatia has successfully transformed it firstly, and then reorganized its security system. Although it has been over 20 years since the beginning of this process, due irresponsible political activities, Croatian security system is still, occasionally, burdened by harmful influence of remained totalitarian (communist) mentality.
