Abstract

The article deals with different types of bilingualism and multilingualism - namely coordinated, subordinated and asymmetric. The emphasis is on the complexity of interferences in the multicultural surroundings. The analysis is based on the poetry of the cakavian dialect. The Croatian cakavian literary language is correlated with the standard language in Croatia. In the context of interferences of language systems, the author analyses the problems in the relationship between the literary colonies and that of the literary metropolis.
