Abstract

A fragment of an architectural element from the
City Museum of Split is published herein. The circumstances
surrounding its discovery and the stylistic
features of the console are undoubtedly linked to the
original architectural decoration of Diocletian’s Palace.
Comparing the element with individual relief figural
motifs in the Palace, the author ascribes examples
of the relief to a single workshop and recognizes the
unified, typical style of rendering figural portrayals in
Diocletian’s Palace.
