Abstract

This paper presents the results of measurement of the influence of the whole-body vibration transmitted from the framesaw to the operator and noise emission in using framesaws and bandsaws. Measurements were conducted under factory conditions during sawing of Silver Fir (Abies alba Mill.) and in accordance with the
applicable measurement standards for the given values. Based on measurement results of the whole-body vibration transmitted to the framesaw operator, it can be concluded that there is no health risk for the operator during an 8-hour working day. Noise level measured at the ear of the framesaw operator was 92 dB(A). That is 7 dB(A) more than allowed. Noise level measured in the cabin of the bandsaw operator was 75 dB(A) and noise level measured at the bandsaw workplace was 100 dB(A). Generally, noise is one of the biggest ergonomic problems in sawmills.
