Abstract

The paper discusses two questions on the grammar of the Croatian language in the 2013 A-level test that were disputable from the scientific point of view. One question relates to the category of definiteness and the other to the formation of the word ledolomac (icebreaker).
The analysis and argumentation led to the conclusion that these two questions must not have been put in the test. The issue has been taken even further in opening a discussion about the status of the suffix -(a)c and about multiple motivation in word formation.
