Abstract

The author describes an old-time kitchen at Komiža on the island of Vis. Though the kitchen utensils do not differ much from those in other parts of Dalmatia, their names are characteristic of the place, as every vernacular is distinguished by its particular names and accents. However, one of the characteristics of the Komiža kitchen utensils is that most of these objects were made by local craftsmen in their own workshops, while the earthenware came from the potter’s workshops at Puglia.
