Abstract

Untill today a few authors described cases of symbiosis of Mycoplasma hominis and Trichomonas vaginalis and warned about their clincal and epidemiological significance. We retrospectively analyzed the last hundred patients with samples of vaginal swabs positive for T. vaginalis and the last hundred patients with samples of urethral and cervical swabs positive for M. hominis. The research was conducted at the Outpatient Department for Urogenital Infections of the University Hospital for Infectious Diseases »Dr. Fran Mihaljević« in Zagreb. The samples were examined at The Department of Clinical Microbiology and The Department of Parasitologic Diagnostics of the Clinic. The purpose of this research was to confirm or to reject eventual symbiosis of these two human pathogens in our patients. The results have shown that our research did not confirm that connection.
