Cylindrical and Toroidal Polyhex Structures

Abstract
A simple graphical method is outlined for applying the encoding method developed earlier with Mallion and Poliak for polyhexes embedded in the surface of a torus. Some conditions for the occurrence of sextet 2-factorable (fully resonant sextet) and other-circuit 2-factorable structures among this series, and among cylindrical polyhex structures are pointed out. They appear more frequently here than among polyhexes on a plane, but are not such simple indicators of stability because destabilising »2n« circuits often appear too. The .T-electron energy of forming small holes is calculated and compared with Hall’s values for planar structures.
