Abstract

Modern society poses new challenges to catechists and
thus asks them to broaden their competences in the field of
spirituality too. The aim of this article is to present some features
of catechist’s spirituality through two chapters. The method
used here is the analytical-screening method.
The first part of this article describes some competences
that today’s catechist should posses, putting emphasis on
spirituality as a meta-competence of lifelong learning of faith. In
the second part we present the essential features of catechist’s
spirituality: he is a true believer, lives and works for the Church,
humble and faithful, a visible sign of the Gospel’s message.
He is distinguished by the service and spirituality of teaching,
missionary spirit, the spirit of prayer, liturgical-sacramental life
imbued with the Holy Spirit and imitation of the Blessed Virgin
Mary.
