Abstract

This paper analyzes the functioning and development of ICT processes in the Croatian maritime industry, mainly the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure and Harbourmaster
offices. Activities related to vessel arrivals and departures are closely examined, from hard copy to the development of relational database, with prospects of evolving to data warehouse. The necessity and importance of monitoring the arrival and departure of ships is emphasized through a detailed description of the related application (“DOB – Dolazak i Odlazak Broda”), which provides just the
rudimentary functionalities of a data warehouse. The future of data warehousing in the field of maritime traffic and the analysis of a Single Window concept will be the topic of authors’ future research.
