Abstract

This works aims to, through the analysis, synthesis and interpretation of the theater repertoire, news papers and articles from 1914 and 1918, present the degree to which World War I effected change in the listed areas. We'll be exploring the changes in both form and content of newspapers issues in the aforementioned period (titles, page numbers, representation of topics...), the functioning of the theater (number of plays at home, guest appearances, repertoire, genres), and changes in dramatic theater critique (their place in the newspapers, breadth, form...). The conclusions presented following this research, aside from the listed contextual influence on the relevant fields, will shed light on the importance of Osijek's theater and theater critics from World War I.
