Abstract

= Environmental issues are not only special topics for scientific experts today. An ever growing number of artists deal with these issues, so that we can speak of various trends in environmental art. This is an art which does not only protest against the devastation of nature and appeals for humanity, but also suggests concrete solutions for the aesthetic reconstruction of nature and designs a hypothetical society in which the disharmony between nature and culture would be overcome.
The environmental approach in art can also be seen in the fact that artists are not willing anymore to be passive observers of nature, but they draw near to it and enter it, create in it as opposed to the art which observes nature from the window.
Analysed are the fundamental features of environmental trends in contemporary fine arts (Environmental Art, Ecological Art, Earth Art, Outside Art etc.). The author firmly believes that art can primarily change the man's attitude towards nature by creating new values. Art can also contribute to the restauration of the environment.
