Abstract

The issue of readiness for environmental action is directly connected with the issue on what, and how much, do we know on environment, how do we get the knowledge on environment and environmental problems, and what should be done to make humans more sensitive for receiving information from environment. Numerous research suggest that our knowledge of environment is mainly "second hand" knowledge, that is to say, it is not based on the direct perception of particular phenomenon. In that respect, verbal description appears to be unefficient. Visual scientists point to the importance of visual knowledge that can contribute — as the awareness on the presence in the environment — to the environmentally acceptable behavior. Since we live in the period of great technological possibilities of the visualization of the environment, these research should be seriously taken into consideration, and that is exactly the subject of this paper.
