Abstract

The text deals with the status of bioethical paradigm within actual paradigmatic conjunctures such as ecologism, globalism, postmodernism and multiculturalism. This analysis starts with the idea of progress, i.e. with comparative analysis of two generally accepted but opposite ways of understanding this idea, as well as with two opposite ethical views of progress. Furthermore, the actual trend of etization of science and other intellectual fields is being explained as a trend arisen out of the need to find more reliable support in life in the time of risky technoscience. The most important waves of etization are given and a special emphasis has been put on etization of science of life , which has been stimulated by the quick development of biotechnologies. With respect to this, the text concentrates on three key motifs of bioethical subjects: the problem of identity, the question of controlling the products of one owns power and the question of rules (norms, institutions) for acting in this field. The text recapitulates some of the most important concrete terms of this normative tendency and comes to a conclusion that these bioethical subjects, owing to their unique content, have prospects to become the main paradigm of the coming era.
