Abstract

Investigation of the localisation of pain has been carried out in patients with
osteoarhtrotic knees. The investigation included a total of 27 patients (4'J knee
joints) with the clinically and radiologically established diagnosis of the disease.
The average age of the investigated patients was 56.3 years, ranging from 22 to
78 years. Intensity and presence of pain were determined acording to Boeckstyns'
questionnaire.
The most common localisation of pain was antero-medial side of the knee and
the media! patellar borderline, and the lateral patellar borderline, in 21 knee
(77.8%) and in 19 patients (70.4%) respectively.
Determining the exact pain loca1isation has its practical and therapeutical
advantages.
