Abstract

In this retrospective clinical study the proportion of the low back pain
sufferers among the lower-limb amputees treated in our institution in the period
between 1982. and 1984. was determined. The patients were divided into 4 groups
with respect to the age of the amputation. We have found that the proportion
of the LBP-sufferrers increased with the age of the amputation. The reasons for
such observation which apparently contradict the results of the previous studies
are discussed.
