Abstract

Diadynamic currents have found wide application in physiatry, rheumatology,
neurology and vertebrology. To investJigate the effectiveness od diadynamic currents
we formed the group of 33 patients (20 women and 13 men) aged 24-58 years,
with lumbar painful syndrome. During the trail the patients abstained from taking
analgetics and non-steroid antiphlogistics. Modulations 3 and 4 were applied, 4
minutes of each on each painful spot, with the changing of the poles at half-time.
The treatment was app1ied daily during 14 days. For the evaluation of the effectiveness
of the therapy these paramatres were recorded: pain, paravertebral muscular
tonus, antalgic posture, the sign of the »bell« according to de Seze, Kibler's
Valleix's painful spots expressed in points from l to 3, inclinaton of the spine,
the fingers-floor distance in centimetres and Lasegue's tests in degrees.
As eal'ly as 7 days after the beginning of the therapy a significant improvement
of the parametres under study was recorded (P<0.05 - <0.001). Further 7 days
of therapy brought about a further significant reduction of pain (P< O.Ol) .
