Abstract

Neutropenic fever (NF) is one of the most serious and life threatening complications during the treatment of cancer patients. Low number of neutrophil granulocyte and inadequate immunologic response to infection could lead to various symptoms ranging from very mild deterioration to fast developed of septic shock and finally death of the patient. So, the patient with FN during the therapy of hematologic malignancy must be considered as a medical emergency, and as soon as possible to start with initial empirical antibiotic treatment. We present basic knowledge about NF with short guideliness for its treatment that we use in daily practice with our patients.
