Abstract

Life and death are two inseparable parts of human reality and along the art of living, there is also the art of dying. Contrary to euthanasia, in our Institutions daily “dysthanasia” is carried out. Dysthanasia is a term for a slow and painful, unworthy death due to supporting the process of dying with useless treatment that denies human dignity. In Western European countries the term “therapeutic perseverance” is used, while in the United States the term “medical futility” is used.
