Abstract

For the purpose of self-renewal and in order to satisfy the great demands of the present time, it is of great importance to develop a pneumatologically motivated Christology in the direction of trinitary mediation. Pneumatologically determined Christology is best equipped to reconcile the uniqueness of Jesus Christ and its universal salvific significance. It is based on the idea that the person and work of Jesus Christ cannot be separated and that God’s self-mediation in the history of salvation has a specific path of development. Jesus is not only the carrier of the Holy Spirit, but rather he was also made incarnate by the action of the Spirit. He became Man so that we might become the children of God . Jesus grants us his Spirit so that this same Spirit can create within us that which it created in Jesus as Man. We are dealing with the issue of economy of salvation of the One and Triune God, which is realised in the mystery of the Incarnation, Death and Resurrection of the Son of God together with the Holy Spirit and also realised in its salvific value which is spread out to all of mankind as well as the entire universe. Salvation through Jesus Christ is the mediated participation in God’s life in the Holy Spirit.
