Abstract

International Civil Aviation Organization is delivering standards and
guidelines (SARP - Standards and Recommended Practices) which are foundation for national laws in civil aviation. Guidelines are given in 19 Annexes. Annex 19 is describing Safety Management Systems (SMS) and new version has been adopted by the Council on 25 February 2013 and become applicable from 14 November 2013. Changes that are introduced have a direct impact on organizations that offer services in civil aviation, flight operations, ground operations and maintenance of aircrafts. Existing safety management
SARPs for safety management are now upgraded to the level of standard and all civil aviation organizations will have to define and implement effective safety management system (SMS).
