Abstract

The author analyses Dietrich von Hildebrand's perception of truth in his works in terms of the traditional definition of truth and how it is grasped in contemporary philosophy. He puts forward Hildebrand's explanations for the major causes and factors which affected the disregard and denial of objective truth; also, he discusses the farreaching consequences of the fact that the truth had been subjugated to the Nazi ideology, which inevitably led to both uniformity of thought and totalitarianism in science as well as in the cultural social order.
