Abstract

A modified passive sampler for collection of nitrogen dioxide (N02) from the air based on diffusion was evaluated by simultaneous measurement with active samplers (bubbler with absorbing solution). The reproducibility of N02 determination with passive samplers was examined by exposing simultaneously four or five samplers to the atmospheres containing 17-47 µg m-3 twenty-one times. Both the accuracy and reproducibility of N02 determination satisfied the requirements for field methods. The sampler is lightweight, requires no power supply and is suitable for the assessment of personal exposure to N02.
