Abstract

The scope of this work is the science-industry relation in Croatia. The transfer of knowledge and technology is crucial to increase the competitiveness of the Croatian economy. The incentives and barriers to closer science-industry relations have been analyzed.
The aim of this work is to determine the analytical and methodological framework for active research and technology development policy implementation. The results point out
the advantages of benchmarking institutional framework for science-industry relations, and benchmarking of national research policies which would be the proposed analytic tools to direct and monitor policy measures effects. The fi ndings of research on human
resources in research and development in Croatia using the benchmarking analysis have been presented. Recommended initial activities of government institutions to boost scienceindustry
cooperation in Croatia are the conclusive part of this work.
