Abstract

In a group of sixty workers from a plant for the electrolytic extraction of aluminium a questionnaire study was performed to find out the persistence of subjective complaints caused by strong magnetic fields. A control group of thirty workers was also interviewed. The answers were evaluated by χ2-test. No significant difference in the registered subjective complaints due to magnetic fields was established between the two groups. However, some other differences were observed which may have been connected with other harmful factors present in the working environment such as dust, gas, heat and risk of injury.
