Abstract

Concentrations of the pollutants emitted by E-14 furnaces, which are used for the electrolytic extract-ion of aluminium, were measured over a period of ten years. In this period several improvements were made in the system for partial wet purification of gases. The degree of pollution both indoors and outdoors was found to be dependent to an appreciable extent upon these modifications. Periodic indoor and outdoor measurements aimed at assessing atmospheric pollution because of the plant location close to town and urban settlements. Based on the data recorded measures are planned to bring pollutant levels to the limits which ace technically acceptable and presently recognized as normal. Comparative pollutant values measured in the ancillary sections of the aluminium plant are also given.
