Abstract

Author is analysing the active role of diasporas in the process of transnationalisation, as well as intensity and direction of their influence on transference, transformation and transcendence of the boundaries of national units. He redefines diaspora as deterritorialised network which acts on the behalf of real or imagined “homelands”. He emphasises the differences between diasporas considering intensity of identification, hybridity, communication, attachment to locality and activity of the members, as well as different influences the diaspora members have on transnational community formation. The final part of the paper determines the main fields in which diaspora activities intersect with and influence transnationalisation. Intensity and direction of action are combined with social, cultural, political, economic spheres of
boundary transference, transformation and transcendence.
