Abstract

Working conditions in iron smelting plants and their possible harmful effects on workers' health are briefly dealt with. The occurrence of silicosis, especially in one smelting works, was a reason for devoting the Meeting of the Occupational Health Section of the Croatian Medical Association in Slavonska Požega in May 1985 to this topic. On the basis of the papers presented at the Meeting and the discussions that followed, conclusions were drawn stating measures and actions to be taken to improve working conditions in iron smelting plants and to promote workers' health care.
