Abstract

Each company tries to actualize its aims as efficiently as possible. The principal requirement for this is the rational organization from the one hand and an efficient social structure.
The role of each member and his prerogatives in the organization is prescribed by organization. That is, the roles are institutionalized, especially the relationships of subordination, superordination and coordination. However, the spontaneous behavior is often different from the institutionalized one.
We tried to assess in a company (1) whether the differences exist between the formal structure, represented by the prescribed relations of the bearers of the institutionalized roles from the one hand, and the informal structure, as expressed in everyday, spontaneous relations between the roles, and (2) what is the nature of the possible differences.
The formal structure in the company is represented by the organizational schemes of the defined relationships of subordination, superordination and coordination between working places — institutional roles. Informal structure is represented by the organizational schemes constructed by the results of the interview among the bearers of specific roles.
The qualitative analysis of the formal and informal organizational schemes revealed the differences between them and their specific nature. It could be generally stated, that these differences represent serious obstacles to the actualization of the company aims.
