Abstract

Author gives a review of today’s cognitions about the effect of oral hormone contraception on cardiovascular system of the users. The impact of oral hormone contraception on coagulation system, on the frequency of manifestations of venous thromboembolism and arterial diseases, myocardial infarction and stroke is presented. The attention to the need of precaution when prescribing oral contraceptives to risky groups of users, like smokers and users with hypertension and diabetes is stressed.
