Abstract

The author proposes solutions for attributive problems of the two-sided painting depicting St. Peter, given to the Strossmayer Gallery bv Ante Topić Mimara (1967) as a work of the Avignon School of the 15th century. Mentioning several »osterntatious signs« of the stylistic expression of Jean Bellegambe, and quoting comparative material (»Triptique de Marchiennes» in Lille, the Polyptych «The Immaculate Conception« in the Douain Museum and so forth), the author concludes that the Zagreb painting clearly comes from in the north of France, and that it originated in the first half of the 16th century, in the workshop of Jean Bellegambe in Douain.
