Abstract

Affective maturity is one of the pillars of adaptation of a person in a new environment. Seminarian is usually a young person who, after entering the seminary, goes through the educational proce- ss in which he meets with various feelings and moods that are an integral part of affective maturity. Self-pity and uncertainty, anger, anxiety, guilt and shame are just some of the feelings experienced by a seminarian and all these feelings are a chance to mature. Semi- narian is in constant relationship with his peers in the community in which he lives, and also with his educators, generally older than him, and also in relation to the persons of the opposite sex in the university community. It is this triple aspect of relations that is a boost for our deliberations. In all this, however we recognize that the seminarian’s life is perceived as a response to God’s call and for this reason we connect anthropological thought of affective matu- ration with theological. Generally, a person is mature when it is capable of responsibly, freely, in love and autonomously underta- king obligations towards themselves, others and the world, whilst depending on others and knowing it. To be able to transcend one’s own self is one of the important indicators of not only human but also Christian maturity.
