Schule machen. Zur Geschichte und Aktualität der Literatursoziologie // On the History and Contemporary Relevance of the Sociology of Literature

Abstract
Literatursoziologie ist keine Disziplin, sondern eine auf das Verhältnis von Literatur und Gesellschaft gerichtete Fragestellung. Als solche durchlief sie eine diskontinuierliche, erst im Zeichen der Inter- und Transdisziplinarität aufsteigende Entwicklung. Exemplarisch durchlaufen und spezifisch geprägt wurde die Literatursoziologie von der Zagreber Schule. Sie wird hier als eine paradigma-gelenkte Forschungsrichtung vorgestellt, welche einerseits die Entwicklung – von der Zurückdrängung der Werkimmanenz über die Sozialgeschichte der Literatur bis zum Perspektivwechsel im Zeichen der Kultur – reflektierend mitvollzog, und andererseits ein genuin problemorientiertes, auf die Moderne und den geschichtlichen Wandel der Formen gerichtetes Verständnis von Literatursoziologie entwickelte.
The sociology of literature is not a discipline in its own right, but rather an act of questioning the relationship between literature and society. As such, it underwent a discontinuous development that was facilitated only by the advent of transdisciplinarity. One of the best examples of this research paradigm was the Zagreb school. This article represents the Zagreb school as a paradigm-oriented research group which not only reflected upon and facilitated the development of the sociology of literature by refusing text immanence and reinforcing the shift to cultural studies, but also advanced a genuinely problem-oriented understanding of the paradigm, aimed specifically at the modern period and the historical change in literary forms.
