Abstract

Organisation, diagnostic methods, control and treatment of patients with severe poisoning in a department of intensive medicine are shortly presented. New therapeutic methods are also described. Emphasis is placed on the elimination of poison by forced diuresis, hemoperfusion and hemodialysis. An analysis of case histories of the severely poisoned patients treated in the Centre for Intensive Medicine in Ljubljana during a three-year period (1975-1977) illustrates the presentation.
