Abstract
This paper has been written in connection to the project Slavonian Text of the Croatian Literature as it formed a model of the methodology for the project. It deals with raising the consciousness about un - necessary contextualisation in the project which presupposes a separate and self-evident sub-corpus of the much wider Croatian national corpus.
In a thousand years of the existence of script, with a personal name recorded on paper for the first time in the area of Slavonia, this territory was one of the most frequent battlefields of various wars. Personal contacts were here, more often than not, turned into conflicts and the essential existential wealth pacified newcomers who
gladly cut their umbilical cords tying them to their homeland and transformed themselves into the natives of this area. While such a transformation was defined by fertile land and the culture of land the area lived in what was more or less piece. However, as soon as the agricultural goods started to be divided and dispersed, recurring oppressive evil reared its ugly head.
Native Slavonian intellectuals very often received education far away from the homeland but upon arrival to Slavonia, they would act as thoughtful custodians; they took care of the evidence of the Difference and the Other and, with that, they clearly defined their Slavonian script.
