Sixty-five years of the Section for dialectology and history of the Croatian language at the University of Zagreb

Abstract
This article offers an overview of the development of the Section for dialectology
and history of the croatian language at the Faculty of humanities
and social sciences, University of Zagreb, from its founding in 1950 until today.
The paper was written to mark the sixty-fifth anniversary of its activity
and the upcoming nintieth birthday of the section’s chair of many years, academician
Milan Moguš. Particular emphasis is given to how our teachers created
the necessary teaching materials – handbooks, textbooks, readers, excercise
books, and dictionaries – for the needs of students of the diachronic linguistic
study of the croatian language. The article ends with an overview of
the teaching staff of the section, with their most important biographic information.
