Four cases of poisoning with paraquat

Abstract

Four cases of accidental poisoning with paraquat are described. The patients were treated at the Internal Ward of the General Hospital in Split in the period from 1975 to 1978. In one patient in addition to a kidney lesion a progressive pulmonaryfibrosis was found and the patient died on 19th day after the accident. In other patients renal functions were also considerably impaired, but completely returned to normal during a few weeks of the treatment. In various intervals after the incident paraquat was found in the urine of all patients.
