Abstract

With a destructive clean-up of fish extract before the gas liquid chromatographic (EC detector) determination PCB and PCT residues were analysed in samples of fresh and sea water fish from the Slovenian region. The results of a quantitative analysis of PCTs were confirmed by perchlorination to orthometa and para-tetradecachloroterphenyls. In determination of PCB and PCT residues Aroclor 1254 -1260 (1 + 1) and Aroclor 5460 were used as standards respectively. PCBs were found in all samples in the range of 0.75 to 33.3 ppm on fat. The range of PCTs was 0.05-0.90 ppm and after perchlorination 0.08 - 0.52 ppm on fat. The highest concentrations of PCB-PCT residues in fresh water fish occurred in rivers running through industrialized areas.
