Abstract

Phenotypic and genetic parameters of Simmental bulls growth from performance test Varaždin, Croatia, were examined.
Research was carried out on body weight and daily gain traits and body measure- ments of 250 bulls tested during six consecutive years. The average daily gain between 120 and 365 days was 1590 g (SD= 110 g). On 365th day of life the withers height was 128.4 cm (SD + 2.02 cm) and body weight was 585 kg (SD=33 kg). The systematic influences were estimated by least squares method. The coefficient of heritability suggested by values in literature depended on models for systematic influences estimation. Heritabilities estimated by model included season effect for body weight on 365th, day were 0.37, for daily gain from 120 to 365 days of life were 0,31 and for withers height on 365th day were 0.33.
